If you have visited Atmosphere’s website, facebook, twitter or the actual resort during the last month, you can’t have missed out on us completing the Project Aware Finathon.

The Atmosphere Dive Team swam from the resort to Apo Island and back – a distance of 20 km, management swam 2 km each, our kids at ONE International School swam 1160 meters in the pool and we all had a fabulous day. Under our joint PADI IDC venture “Instructor Development Philippines” together with Liquid Dumaguete, we all together clocked over 100 km in total!

What is the Finathon? Like a swimathon, fun run, cycle race or marathon – the Project Aware Finathon was a great way to bring our community and resort staff together, raise awareness and funds to support the unique cause to stop shark finning, protect critically endangered sharks and get stronger shark protection policies in place.

“It’s inspiring to see two PADI resorts join forces for conservation to help raise awareness for the plight of sharks. To swim for seven hours in strong currents is a powerful testament to the passion scuba divers have to protect sharks for future generations. Thanks to Instructor Development Philippines, who now top the Finathon Team Leaderboard raising $4,405 and counting,” said Joanna McNamara from Project AWARE.
