In September last year (2019) our in-house Marine Biologist, Kirsty, was involved in an international photography project with award-winning photographer Dean West and acclaimed LEGO sculptor Nathan Sawaya. Life in LEGO  The initial 2013 project “In Pieces” combined Sawaya’s life-size LEGO sculptures with West’s hyper-realistic photography and was exhibited in 14 countries around the world. In 2019 they joined forces once again to use their unique creativity to highlight the plight of endangered species and habitat destruction. “Perniciem” (Latin for ‘extinction’) focuses on four critical habitats; oceans, forests, grasslands and polar regions. That being said, for me personally, October has been exceptional. We have had many unique sightings this month and many guests have finally seen a desired critter for the first time, including the elusive Harlequin Shrimp! We are still seeing frogfish at a lot of the dive sites, so I’m definitely happy, and one of my favorite Giant Frogfish reappeared and it seems to have changed color from purple …
