What is Technical Diving?
Technical diving goes beyond the standard no-decompression limits and recreational depth boundaries of scuba. It includes dives that require staged decompression, use of mixed gases like trimix, sidemount or backmount configurations, and closed-circuit rebreathers (CCR). These techniques allow divers to go deeper, stay longer, and explore dive sites that very few have ever seen.
But technical diving isn’t just about gear and gas—it’s about meticulous planning, solid training, and mastering the mental and physical discipline needed to handle more complex underwater environments.
Introducing the New Technical Diving Center at Atmosphere
In response to growing demand from technical divers around the world, Atmosphere has unveiled a brand-new, purpose-built technical diving center. This state-of-the-art facility is one of the most comprehensive tech setups in the region and was designed with serious divers in mind.
Highlights of the new tech center include:
-
Spacious rigging and assembly area for sidemount, backmount, and CCR divers
-
Dedicated CCR prep stations with individual benches and power supplies
-
Dry room and personal storage lockers to keep gear organized and safe

The Allure of CCR Diving
For divers ready to explore the silent world, closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) diving offers extended bottom times, optimal gas efficiency, and the thrill of bubble-free exploration. It’s a game changer for photographers, deep divers, and those looking to push boundaries.
Take the first step into the rebreather world with the JJ-CCR MOD 1 Course. Learn how to use a JJ-CCR on dives from 30 to 45 meters depending on if the course is air diluent, decompression or Helitrox. During your course, you will learn how to safely setup, maintain and calibrate the JJ-CCR, emergency drills and procedures to safely operate the JJ-CCR and practice loop volume control, maintaining buoyancy on rebreather, system monitoring along with gas management including bailouts.
Not quite ready to take the big step yet? Take our “TRY CCR workshop” where you will learn about how the JJ-CCR works, basic rebreather theory and knowledge. Also, you’ll get to try the unit safely in the pool with an instructor and even possibly take a shallow water dive on our house reef!
Enjoy the warm water of the Philippines with your CCR. We offer support for rebreather and MOD3+ guided dives up to 3 hours with DPV rental.

Explore the Awe-Inspiring Rock Formations of Apo Island
Unleash your passion for exploration with our exceptional tech dive sites, especially in the captivating waters of Apo Island. Picture this: one side of Apo Island boasts mesmerizing walls, inviting recreational divers to delve down to 30 metres. On the other side, brace yourself for drift dives amid wild currents, where you’ll encounter massive schools of jacks, vibrant reefs, and an abundance of sea snakes.
But that’s not all – beneath those walls lie deep, awe-inspiring rock formations extending from 45 to a staggering 80 metres and beyond. It’s a playground perfectly suited for divers of all technical levels. Brace yourself for a rendezvous with an underwater world teeming with marine life. What sets this experience apart? You’ll have it all to yourself, away from the commotion of shallower sites. Deeper down, we have found schools of hammerheads and the occasional thresher shark during the cooler months.
Dive the Geopeter Wreck with Atmosphere Tech
The Geopeter wreck is an existing new dive site addition for divers who are certified to Extended Range level (or willing to be!). This ferry sank in bad weather near Selinog Island over 30 years ago, a little over an hour beyond Apo Island. All crew and passengers aboard were rescued, and the ferry lies on a sandy bottom between 50 and 65 metres depth. Diving the Geopeter wreck is a great opportunity to explore the depths with technical diving at Atmosphere.
