What are PADI Specialty Courses?

Scuba specialty courses are designed to enhance your diving skills and knowledge beyond the basic diver certification. They allow you to specialize in specific areas of diving, such as deep diving, wreck diving, night diving, or underwater photography.

PADI Aware Specialty Courses

PADI Enriched Air Nitrox

Enriched air, also known as nitrox or EANx, contains less nitrogen than regular air. Breathing less nitrogen allows for longer dives and shorter surface intervals. And with Atmosphere Resorts & Spa, nitrox dives are complimentary for certified nitrox divers!

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver

PADI Drift Diving

Diving in a current can feel like flying underwater. In the Drift diver course, you’ll learn drift-diving tips from an experienced instructor and get to practise buoyancy control, navigation, use of surface signalling equipment and buddy communication.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver

Minimum 12 years old

PADI Peak performance buoyancy

Glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. This course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level. Your buoyancy and trim, as well as your air consumption, will improve considerably during a fun course with lots of games and play.

PADI Deep Diver

During the Deep diver course, you’ll learn how to plan deep dives, manage your gas supply and identify and manage narcosis. The instructor will teach you about buddy contact procedures, safety considerations and buoyancy control at depth. Your new maximum depth limit will be 40m.

PADI Adventure diver

PADI Night Diver

At night, you dive into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge. Learn about new marine life behaviours and diver considerations and safety during night dives.

PADI Critters of Dauin specialist

This specialty is unique to Atmosphere Resorts & Spa and taught by our in-house marine biologist. The Critters of Dauin course begins with an engaging presentation, followed by two exciting critter hunt dives. You’ll enhance your diving skills and also learn about the incredible biodiversity that thrives in our local waters.

PADI Underwater navigation

Be the scuba diver everyone wants to follow because you know where you are and where you’re going. You get to fine-tune your observation skills and learn to more accurately use your compass underwater, empowering you to explore new dive sites confidently and safely.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver

Minimum 10 years old

PADI Search & recovery diver

The next time someone loses an item underwater, you can be the hero who finds the missing object. You’ll learn how to find lost objects underwater and practise different types of underwater search patterns. You will also learn how to use a lift bag as you plan and execute mock search operations.

Pre-requisite:
PADI (Junior) Advanced open water diver or PADI (Junior) Open water diver with a PADI Underwater navigation certification.

PADI Digital underwater photographer or videographer

During these courses you’ll learn how to take underwater photos or videos you’ll be proud to share with others. You learn to avoid beginner mistakes and you will shorten the learning curve with tips from the pros. You will also discover simple techniques for editing your photos and videos.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver.

PADI Fish Identification

“What was that fish?” is a common question heard after a dive. If you want to be the scuba diver with the answers, instead of the one asking the questions, then the Fish ID course is the course for you. You’ll enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see and can identify the main fish families and their characteristics.

PADI Aware

Join the PADI AWARE course and empower yourself to protect our oceans. Designed for everyone, this course focuses on marine conservation and environmental awareness. You’ll learn about vital issues facing our oceans, like coral reef health and marine species protection, while gaining the skills to make a difference. With engaging activities and a passion for the underwater world, you’ll become an advocate for ocean conservation.

PADI AWARE Dive Against Debris

Make every dive count by activating your inner citizen scientist and be one of the divers protecting our ocean. During AWARE dive against debris, you’ll learn how ocean plastic and trash cleanups not only keep your local dive sites healthier but also how to contribute to a global database that documents our planet’s marine debris problem.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher.

PADI AWARE Shark Conservation

Sharks need you! Enrol in the AWARE shark conservation course and discover the value of sharks to marine ecosystems and economies. You’ll learn more about the causes of declining shark populations and the actions you can take to become a knowledgeable and passionate shark defender. By being informed, you can dispel misconceptions and act to protect sharks.
